Hi there, Fellow Knowledge-Seeker!
Thank you for visiting my website. I'm Bryant M. Stone, Ph.D. - a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (MD License #07258) currently completing a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA F32 Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. (Yes, it's a mouthful, but stick with me!)
You know what gets me fired up? It's something I call the Experience Gap - which is this huge disconnect between people who use substances and, well, pretty much everyone else (healthcare providers, professionals, society at large). So I created the Experience Integration Framework. Fancy name aside, it's really about something simple but crucial: Actually listening to the people we're trying to help and keeping them involved in the research. Radical concept, right? By amplifying their voices, we can revolutionize treatment approaches, get people more engaged in their care, and maybe even knock some sense into policy reform. I believe it is the only way forward. (Curious about the nitty-gritty? See My Plan)
Fresh out of my predoctoral internship at the Medical University of South Carolina, I wrapped up my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2023. In between coffee runs and questioning everything I knew, I somehow managed to publish two books: The PPI Companion: Empirically Supported Positive Psychological Interventions for the Promotion of Well-Being (fancy title = ways to help people thrive despite their problems and negative emotions), and its sister book, The PPI Companion Client Workbook: Activities, Handouts, and Notes for Successful Therapy.
Is there still a mountain of work ahead us? You bet! Am I stubbornly optimistic about it all and hope you'll join me in my efforts? Well... I think you know my answer :)
You can learn more about my research on my ResearchGate, Google Scholar, ORCiD. For the truly curious, my full CV is floating around here somewhere if you can find it, or you can just drop me a line at Contact@BryantStonePhD.com. I love hearing from you!
